American Dream Mall
The second largest mall in America opened in New Jersey in the Fall of 2019 after being in development for more than 20 years! The $5-billion project will have more than 450 different stores and places to eat, major park rides, an indoor ski hill and water slides!! One of the first stages of the opening was to launch the Nickelodeon Universe park. We were contacted by Ben Noyes, Biophilic Designer for Plant The Future, a nature-inspired design firm and retailer based in Miami, Florida. After learning of the custom planters incorporated into the design, our team rose to the challenge of this demanding project timeline.
A total of 117 oversized planters, from two collections, in various sizes were needed in a very short turn-around time for the malls opening. The planters Ben was looking for needed to be durable in construction and finish for this high-traffic area, a perfect complement to the unique space, and large enough to house enormous trees and their root systems.
We ultimately decided upon two custom-made lightweight fiberglass designs from the Marek Planter Collection, and Rosetta Low Bowl Collection in a Buff Sand finish—ranging from 36 inches in diameter up to a massive 112 inches!!
Our skilled artisans developed technical drawings detailing the design of the chosen collections for approval. Fifty Marek round planters and sixty-seven Rosetta low bowl planters were then built to the exact design specifications, in perfect harmony with the mall’s architectural design.
