Knott's Berry Farm Restaurant Refurbishment

An icon of American entertainment, Knott's Berry Farm has long been a Southern California landmark. The historic theme park actually began as the Knott family's roadside stand in 1920 and turned into a simple, five-table family restaurant in 1934, where Mrs. Knott made her famous fried chicken, pies, and other homemade goodies. This restaurant, now known as Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant, is considered the historic backbone of what is now an iconic theme park full of shops, rides, and other tourist attractions. So when Lara Hanneman, Knott's creative director, contacted Artificial Plants Unlimited about contributing to their refurbishment project, which would give the restaurant a more modern feel while maintaining their iconic "Old West" style, we were thrilled!

What better way to add contemporary flair to a rustic design than with an artificial living wall chock-full of gorgeous succulents in all colors, shapes, and textures? We suggested adding these artful faux living walls to the design in order to add some visual interest and break up the continuity of the wood walls and tables with a bit of vibrant greenery. Beautifully set off by a gorgeous fiberglass frame that resembles a wood finish, this organic-inspired artwork was designed to last for years in this high-impact environment, where, each year, hundreds of thousands of people come from all over the world to visit. And because these lifelike succulents are artificial, they don't have to worry about wasting time or money on maintaining them-they will continue to look fresh and beautiful year in and year out!

A Personalized Artificial Living Wall

All of our artificial living walls can be customized in any design you like-choose from succulents, boxwood, long grasses, ivy, trailing vines, flowers, or any artful combination. Want to incorporate your brand's logo or another brand-specific design? We can do that too!

Lifelike Faux Wood Planters that Never Rot

Part of the refurbishment included sprucing up the restaurant's entrance. We suggested using durable Madera Fiberglass Planters. Not only do these planters weather beautifully through the years due to their sturdy fiberglass construct, but they are designed to mimic the look of natural wood, which would fit in perfectly with the restaurant's barnlike exterior. And their square and rectangular styles (which are fully customizable in size, shape, color, and texture) would bring a more modern and streamlined design sensibility, bringing it into the current millennium without losing that classic frontier style.
